This is fucking disgusting. All schools should have sports rules like the Ivy League. No money for athletes. Our colleges and universities have turned into glorified training camps. If you want to play football fresh out of high school, go to a football camp and let them figure out the funding. Don’t go to our public colleges and universities where you’ll get professional coaching on the public dollar and major in bullshit. The only societal value in that is that people really enjoy watching sports both college and professional and that’s a relief for them. But so are hobbies like building a ship in a bottle. Will our society go to hell and our citizenry be frazzled if we don’t subsidize college sports? I don’t think so. But then again Rome had the Colosseum. Maybe we can have society’s pariahs like disgraced politicians, agent provocateurs, biased media personalities, and guilty people that got off due to a technicality somehow have their bullshit exposed and be humiliated in an arena to the point of suicide.
